The general idea is to have your left hand on the WASD keys at all times, with the little finger on the shift button. That's the reason R is also assigned to numpad 5. Hence, if you would like to continue guarding, a quick tap of 8 followed by holding of 5 is required. Numpad 8 overlaps with the controls for triangle and circle, this effectively makes pressing 8 do things such as unsheathe guard for Lance) <- I'd like to add that iirc, this button is buggy because you won't hold the guard up for longer than a second after performing unsheathe guard. It also feels less clunkier for me when performing things such as hammer charge attack, to hold 5 and then press 1 to release the charge. Numpad 5 assignment is because your right hand will be on the numpad the entire game, so if you failed to press left shift in time, maybe your right hand will be faster. R: map to Left shift, numpad 5 and numpad 8 (Several things to explain here - firstly, left shift is common sense as it's easy to press and pretty much right next to WASD buttons. The numpad button assignment is meant for you to press and hold for switching items using numpad 2 and 3) In combat, press Q to quickly adjust camera to frontal view. L: map to numpad 0, and Q (pressing either of these 2 will reset your camera. Select: map to X (side by side with start for easier accessibility purposes) Start: map to Z (directly below WASD, a quick flick of your fingers to access the start button) Triangle: map to numpad 1 and 8 (bolded again, look for the reason below) As for the numpad assignment, it's explained later on.) Square: map to numpad 3, and E (the button E is right next to WASD, allowing for easy item usage or sheathing of weapon. 4 to turn camera left and 6 to turn it right.)Ĭircle: map to numpad 2, R, and numpad 8 (bolded because you will see why later) Now, on to the controls: (explanation in brackets)ĭpad: map up, down, left and right to the respective arrow keys, then map left to numpad 4 and right to numpad 6 (the arrow keys are for general purpose PSP games, the 4 and 6 are what allows for proper camera usage in hunts. Personally I struggle with using the bow. As for what those are, you'd have to figure them out for yourself. Note that my style involves heavy usage of the numpad.įirst things first, you have to know that certain weapons are significantly harder to play purely using the keyboard. Using this, you can make life much easier than having to assign one keyboard button to a single PSP button. The trick is that PPSSPP allows the mapping of multiple keys to one PSP button. Ignore everyone else who posted saying that MH is impossible to play on a keyboard - I literally figured it out after hyping myself for MHO using purely the keyboard (ended up not being able to play it anyway, but eh, I'm more than capable of hunting efficiently on the keyboard nowadays)
